Statement of Faith

At Berakah, we adhere to the following Statement of Faith, which encapsulates our core beliefs as a born again church:

The Bible

We believe that the Bible, comprising the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is our ultimate authority for faith, doctrine, and guidance in all areas of life.

The Trinity

We worship one God who exists eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God and distinct in their roles and relationships.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven. He is the only Mediator between God and humanity, and through faith in Him, we receive forgiveness and eternal life.

Salvation

We affirm that salvation is a free gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. By repenting of our sins, confessing Jesus as Lord, and believing in His atoning sacrifice, we are justified before God and become new creations in Christ. Salvation is not earned by works, but by God's unmerited favour.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as a distinct experience subsequent to salvation. This empowering encounter, evidenced by speaking in tongues, equips believers for a supernatural life of service, witness, and spiritual gifts. It enables us to live a victorious Christian life and brings spiritual renewal and transformation.

Spiritual Gifts

We affirm the ongoing operation of the spiritual gifts mentioned in the New Testament, including prophecy, healing, miracles, tongues, interpretation of tongues, and others. These gifts are given by the Holy Spirit for the edification of the church and the advancement of God's kingdom.

Divine Healing

As a church, we believe in divine healing through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. We pray for the sick, trust in God's healing power, and seek medical attention as necessary. We believe that physical, emotional, and spiritual healing is available through faith in Jesus.

Second Coming of Christ

We anticipate the personal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ. His return will be the consummation of God's plan of redemption, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, and the establishment of God's eternal kingdom.

Kingdom Living

We seek to live out the principles of the Kingdom of God in our personal lives, families, and communities. This includes demonstrating love, mercy, justice, compassion, and forgiveness. We strive for personal holiness, unity in the Body of Christ, and the advancement of God's kingdom on earth.
